Dear Metropolitan Church of Christ members and guests:
We hope you are well in spirit , mind and body. Please be aware of the following general information from the Center for Disease Control(CDC):
COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly through close contact from person-to-person. Some people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus. We are still learning about how the virus spreads and the severity of illness it causes.
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
-
Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
-
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
-
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
-
COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading very easily and sustainably between people. Information from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic suggest that this virus is spreading more efficiently than influenza, but not as efficiently as measles, which is highly contagious.
It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about how this virus spreads.
Protect yourself and others
he best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. You can take steps to slow the spread.
-
Maintain good social distance (about 6 feet). This is very important in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
-
Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
The number of corona virus cases and deaths in Tarrant county continue to fluctuate. Therefore, we do not have a green light for resuming regular activities. While we no longer have a red light, it would be prudent to proceed with caution (yellow light). Some are eager to resume regular church activities. Some are reluctant about it. After prayerful consideration, the Metropolitan Church of Christ (MPCC) leaders have decided to proceed by resuming Sunday services on October 18, 2020 from 11am-12pm. However, protective measures will be employed to maximize everyone’s well-being and minimize the likelihood of corona virus contamination.
Sunday school classes and chorus singing in front of the congregation will be suspended until further notice. We will do congregational singing only. To minimize the risk of cross contamination, offering plates will not be passed. A single collection receptacle will be available at the back of the auditorium for contributions. Communion will be accomplished through individualized packets.
Everyone is asked to wear a mask, particularly ushers and those involved in any kind of service.
Hand sanitizer will be available.
We understand that everyone is not comfortable meeting together, at this time. That is ok. Please make your decision personally and prayerfully. Health authorities strongly recommend that those in higher risk age groups and with, pre-existing health conditions participate in church services remotely.
We will continue to have a sermon available online for those who choose to stay at home.
We will continue Wednesday Bible study via Uber conference.
Opportunity for communion and contribution will continue on Saturdays.
We will continue this protocol until the reported number of new corona virus cases in Tarrant county reaches zero.
Because of His love,
MPCC leadership
